Reporting a bug in v1.4 of Plex app for Apple TV4..
I created an earlier lengthy thread as I tried to work through the cause of the problem below, but in in order to avoid any confusion as to what the issue is, I thought it appropriate to more clearly articulate it here in it's own thread, with the hopes that someone from Apple TV Plex development might actually read it.
There’s no need for logs, or any other data to be sent to Plex developers, as it’s quite a simple issue, but very annoying to users who have hundreds of TV SHOWS or MOVIES assigned to existing “Collections”.
Any collection already named that contains an "&" up until the October 20th release of v1.4 of Plex App for Apple TV4 is now useless and no longer displays any content attached to it. Even worse, the Plex Apple TV code still permits users still create collection names with an “&” embedded, exacerbating an already messed up situation.
The display of any collection that contains an "&" continues to work just fine on other IOS devices, such as iPhones, iPads, MacBook Pros and iMacs etc etc...
Obviously, the developers messed up some Apple TV specific code and with no other way to rename a collection, it creates a heck of a mess for families like ours, with hundreds of content items listed under collections previously named with an "&" in the collection title.
To simply test ….
Create a TV SHOWS collection called "Testing & Testing" ..
Add some TV SHOWS to it ..
On your Apple TV4 only .... Go to TV SHOWS and select the drop down box for "Collections" and click on the collection called "Testing & Testing".
The Apple TV light just flashes recognizing the clicking of the remote key press, but Plex 1.4 doesn't display any of the shows associated with only that collection name, which worked fine on previous versions to the Apple TV app up until October 20th. So, the developers apparently broke the naming convention program "mask" in V1.4 of the Apple TV app.
Now, let's hope they fix it, but so far, I haven’t been successful to even get the bug acknowledged and I can’t find anywhere an ETA for the next version of the Apple TV app. It’s really annoying and I have a bunch of angry Lifetime Plex Pass family members who happen to have their collections named with a title containing an ‘&”, who can no longer view their content.

ps: By the way, if you created the "Testing & Testing" collection name shown above to try to duplicate this bug, you'll be stuck with it forever appearing in your collections listing. Apparently, Plex developers didn't think it was a good idea for the user to be able to rename or delete collection titles that already exist. Some days you just have to wonder.. ;)
