A few months back, I was experiencing a buffering issues whenever I tried to play a tv/ movie file for more than 10 mins on my Apple TV 4, and at the suggestion of some folks on this board, found that turning off Direct Play and activating Direct Streaming resolved the issue. After recent updates (both the server and Apple TV are running the newest public version) I've begun to find that some movies won't play under Direct Streaming. Hitting Play turns the screen black for a sec, as if about to begin playback, only to land right back at the previous screen. Re enabling Direct Play seems to allow playback to begin, but still experiencing buffering issue (around 32 mins into a 1080p movie). Frankly, I'd also prefer to stick with Direct Streaming, since playback seems to start a bit faster. All my files are m4v files fully compatible with iOS. Playback is happening by remote. Remote network is 50/50 Fios running off a hardwired cat6 current model airport extreme and a Drobo S directly connect to a Mac Pro. Local ATV 4 is hardwired cat6 to a current model airport express on 50/50 Fios. Was wondering if anyone else is experiencing anything similar. Thanks!
