ALAC 5.1 files missing Surround Left channel during playback on AppleTV

I've been encoding most of my old DVD-A surround collection to apple lossless 5.1.
For some reason when I playback using the Apple TV plex app the Surround Left channel is missing.
Any clue whats going on? The AAC & AC3 versions of encode all work fine.
